Well my fellow Montcalmers, another Stanton Old Fashioned Days has been placed in the record books and what a great weekend it was and we sure hope you were able to be a part of the festival on any level!!
Only 2 months ago, we were wrapping up a National health situation that shook the world and jilted our economy and workforce all across the country. Families experienced tragedies, businesses were forced to find alternate ways to stay open or break even, while many Americans struggled to make ends meet. And for some, these hurdles are still real today.
At this year’s festival, you could see some of the effects of the pandemic, mostly through the lines at the various concession stands. These folks are struggling to find people who want to work and for those who are, they worked their tails off this weekend trying to keep everyone fed! Thank you to our Vendors for supporting our town and to the patrons who supported them right back!!
This weekend, we saw so much more than classic cars, the Tom & Jerry movie night, dozens of parade entries and vendors displaying their crafts. We saw young and old getting back out on the streets of your community, smiling, saying hello to people they haven’t seen for a while. We saw kids with determination on their faces as they pedaled their tractor in the tractor pulls and other children as they raced down Main Street in the soapbox derby. We saw heart and soul as car and motorcycle owners displayed their pride and joy for everyone to see.
From the talents and aspirations of each of the Pageant contestants, the unique and gifted abilities at the Star Quest Talent Show, the determined look and smiles on the enthusiastic athletes you could see at the various sporting events, to the thousands of smiles lining the streets of Stanton for the parades, this community came together to take back the streets of Stanton; your city, your hometown.
Our hearts were truly blessed by your presence and participation at SOFD 2021. Your support and generosity shown to all of the sponsors, organizations, vendors and local businesses means more to us than you could ever know. Thank you!!!
We couldn’t put this festival together if it weren’t for the hundreds of businesses and organizations who sponsor the various events and activities, both physically and financially. Special thank you and appreciation to the City of Stanton, the Department of Public Works, the Police Department for working extra hard doing the normal tasks associated with your jobs, and then, all of the extra demands placed on you because of the festival. You are the unsung heroes of SOFD!
And, to my special friends, who make up the SOFD Committee, you are the backbone of this festival and through your hard work, dedication and sacrifices; you, once again, have made this community proud and a great place to call home! Your diligence to “getting it right” does not go unnoticed and you are appreciated more than you will know. Congratulations on a great SOFD 2021!
We welcome your feedback, input and even your time, as to how you think the festival went this year, what was good, what you would like to see, and more importantly, what can you do to help us keep SOFD going strong. Please contact any of the Board members, visit our website at www.stantonofd.com or email us at email@example.com.
Throughout the festival weekend, there was so much more to see than cars, motorcycles, tractors, arts & crafts, sporting events and parades. We saw neighbors helping strangers, young people helping older, and people caring about people. We saw Stanton caring about their community! We saw Stanton come back home!
